There are many potentially toxic and artificial chemicals in personal care products. Some are absorbed through the skin into the blood stream. Others may be derived from petrochemicals which are cheap to manufacture. Have these been tested to assure complete safety? The following might be better avoided:
- Propylene Glycol (Allergic or toxic?)
- Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (May cause skin rashes, irritations and reactions)
- Triethanolamine (Might cause allergic reactions from cosmetics)
- Diazolidinyl Urea and Imidazolidinyl Urea (Preservatives associated with dermatitis)
- Butyl, Methyl, Propyl and Ethyl Paraben (May cause skin and allergic reations. Used to prevent microbial growth and to extend shelf life.)
- Petrolatum (May promote cause skin chapping and sun damage)
- PVP/VA Copolymer (Toxic and may effect sensitive people)
- Alluminum (May be unhealthy if used over a long period of time. Found in anti-perspirants.)
- Stearalkonium Chloride (May cause allergic reactions. Found in hair products.)
When selecting personal care products look for natural botanicals and avoid artificial colors, synthetic chemicals and petrochemicals. Most healty body care products have not been tested on animals.
